About them

The live homepage leads with Passion for Feather and Frame, frames conservation as part of the art story, and explains three print tiers: one-of-one originals, limited runs such as editions of twenty or one hundred, and open editions for wider collecting.

Gift products extend the gallery into objects, and newsletter signup captures repeat collectors without forcing accounts.

The fork in the road

We could have custom-built a React gallery with bespoke zoom physics. That would have delayed launches every time Squarespace Commerce updated taxes or shipping profiles.

We stayed on Squarespace so the artist manages print SKUs, variant inventory, and promotional drops between field shoots. Vibe89 focused on typography, narrative sequencing, and SEO copy that reads like a studio statement, not a template demo.

What we built

We sequenced sections so conservation context arrives before commerce, mirroring how collectors justify spend. Shop modules explain scarcity mechanics in plain language so Google can index meaningful differentiation between tiers.

Social and newsletter blocks stay lightweight for mobile collectors browsing after a park visit.

Why we built it that way

Gallery SEO depends on alt text discipline, schema-friendly product language, and fast Largest Contentful Paint on photo grids. Squarespace handles image CDN basics; we tightened copy and heading structure so results read as a Zion-specific artist, not generic wall art.

Stack and delivery

Squarespace Commerce, native galleries, email capture, and hosting with SSL managed inside the platform. When you outgrow templates, Vibe89 still builds fully custom migrations. Until then, we optimize what you already pay for.

Decisions worth reading

Tradeoffs we made on this launch, with extra depth without repeating the fork-in-the-road narrative above.

Why Squarespace commerce instead of a custom React gallery?

A bespoke zoom gallery would have delayed every tax or shipping profile update the artist needs between field shoots.

Squarespace keeps SKUs, variants, and checkout honest while Vibe89 focused on narrative sequencing and typography.

How did we explain the print ladder for search clarity?

We spelled out one-of-one, limited runs, and open editions in plain language before pushing carts.

That gives Google meaningful differentiation instead of duplicate product boilerplate.

How do conservation claims stay credible?

We tied conservation copy to the artist story without overclaiming impact metrics the site cannot substantiate.

Collectors get ethics context; crawlers get specific nouns about Zion wildlife rather than vague greenwashing.

Newsletter versus social capture: what did we bias toward?

Email capture stays lightweight for mobile collectors after park visits, complementing (not replacing) Instagram discovery.

That keeps first paint fast while still building repeat print buyers.
